Our House week has just finished after sponsored walks, cake sales, treasure hunts, a film night, chocolate tombolas, a selfie mirror and Garrick’s Got Talent Competition which have all contributed to a superb week of activities to raise money and food donations for our House charity, Lichfield Foodbank.
There was high praise for Jude Thompson and Eisha Acheson (and Miss Simpson and Mr Hood) who played a massive role in organising the talent show including setting up all the instruments and sorting all the backing tracks. The talent show attracted a bumper crowd, saw a wide range of acts and was huge fun as it set up a buzz for the whole day.
Elsewhere, the student-led chocolate tombola was one of the most popular activities; who would have thought giving students the chance to win chocolate in a raffle would go down so well. Also, the selfie mirror was so popular we might have to charge a small donation for each snap next year to raise more funds.
Elsewhere, the amount of food donations for Lichfield Food Bank has been outstanding and is certainly the most we have received in recent years. Clearly, many families appreciate the tough times at the moment and have been ready to act..
Steve Cartner, Head of Garrick House, said: “Thanks to everyone who contributed or donated throughout the week, you have helped make it a fantastic Garrick House Week. It is a privilege to see all our students contribute to the amazing work they do supporting local people.”
