Following the postponement of the Northern Schools Indoor Finals due to the sad death of the Queen, the Friary Boys Ski Team transferred their place to the Southern Schools Finals at Hemel Hempstead.

First up, wearing bib 2 was new recruit Sean Whillis (Y10) who skied great for his first ever race. He acquitted himself really well and is clearly going to settle and improve through the season.

Noah Bailey (Y12) had not raced since March due to GCSEs but still managed to secure point for the team.

Flying Finn Pike (Y8) put down a first run charge to finish just off the under-14s podium and gain 5 points for the team.

Last, but not least, finishing third in U16s, and gaining 8 points for the team, Reece Pike ensured the Friary again punched above their weight coming 3rd overall despite racing against under-19 year olds.

Russ Pike, team coach, said: “It’s now onto Norwich this weekend to compete in the all England schools final against the best schools in the country. Anyone interested in joining the squad (girls or boys) just need to let Mr Sleigh know and we’ll be delighted to get them on board.”
