An important part of our school curriculum is to make sure our students are well aware of topical affairs and modern-day topics which come through our Focus Week programme.
We run a weekly House competition based on Current Affairs where 20 questions are given to each form and as the answers are sent in we keep a tally to see which House scores best over the course of the year.
Last year saw Seward House take the crown with the following scores:
1st Place: Seward with 6073 points
2nd Place: Garrick with 6026 points
3rd Place: Darwin with 5842 points
4th Place: Johnson with 5687 points
The Year groups also saw individual tutor groups scores compared and the winning forms for 2021-2022 were 7S1, 8G2, 9G2, 10D1, 11D2 and in the Sixth Form C6D2.
Sam Sullivan, Assistant Headteacher, said: “The current affairs competition is already up-and-running and the combination of newsworthy questions, questions related to our Focus Weeks, and then specific news information on a focused topic is fantastic at opening our students up to the new topics, new ideas and new debates. We are looking forward to see if Seward House can be knocked of the top of the leaderboard.”
