The Friary got off to a disappointing start to their 11 a side cricket league this year. Friary won the toss and opened proceedings with Jack Mallender and Max Thomas striding out to face the first over. Max was the pick of the Friary batting line up with 15 off 33 balls with Jack contributing a quick fire 8. The team are going to work on their running between the wickets in training as 2 run outs out of 4 wickets is definitely something that kept their score to 74 off 16.

Nether Stowe came out swinging in the 2nd innings. The opening pair put on a stand of 26 of a similar amount of balls with extras also contributing to a fair share of the Nether Stowe total. Mallender and Mcbreen were the only 2 bowlers to contribute a wicket. Lily McBreen had the best figures overall with 2 overs 1 for 12.

Sam Foster, Head of Performance & Technologies and team coach, said: “It is early days for the team, and there is definitely huge potential in there, but we have plenty of work to do for the upcoming match against King Edward’s.”
