As soon as the curtains closed on our performance of ‘Joseph’, Music students were again out in the community representing the school at the annual Lichfield and Rugeley Music Centre Summer Concert.

Friary students were involved in all of the different ensembles, including Lichfield Wind Band, Launchpad Rock Ensemble, Lichfield String Orchestra and the Lichfield Training Band. A varied programme of pieces including Pirates of the Caribbean and ‘Born To Be Wild’ challenged the students across all abilities, and it was a fantastic afternoon of live music.

The following students took part:

Lichfield Wind Band: Berti Waldon, Rose Piper & Rosie Walker
Lichfield Launchpad: Gareth Hunt & Sean Whillis
Lichfield String Orchestra: Maisie Alford & Phoebe Jones
Lichfield Training Band: Isobel Davies, Josh Hill & Zia Waldon

Jon Hood, Head of Music said: “It is always great to see students taking every opportunity available for them to perform on their instrument, and I know the huge benefits that it brings as a developing musician. The link we have with the regional music service extends the opportunities available for our musicians, and also supports our goal of nurturing great musical talent. The standard of performing was excellent from all students, and I am proud of each and every one of them.”
