Our library team took a  group of students to Peters Bookshop in Birmingham to choose some new titles for our school library.

Many of the group are part of our Thursday Book Club and they included: Simao Reves (7D2), Dylan Nicholson (7D2), Iago Navio (7J1), Roxanna Clarke (7J1), Isabelle Webb (8D1), Abbie Hayward (8D2), Calum Finch (9S2), and Phoenix Ivey (9J1).

They chose a variety of fantastic books including:

‘Heartstopper’ by Alice Oseman
‘While the Storm Rages’ by Phil Earle
‘Boy 87’ by Ele Fountain
‘Inheritance’ by Christopher Paolini
‘Alex Rider Nightshade’ by Anthony Horowitz

During the visit, the students took part in a competition to guess the number of books in the shop. Iago Navio guessed the closest number and won himself a book – ‘The Guinness World Records 2022’. The students were also able to choose some posters and bookmarks to take home.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the shopping expedition commenting: “They had nice books and kind staff” and “The staff were kind and the books were awesome. I had a great time.”

Helena Cresswell, School Librarian, said: “It was a great trip and so good to see the students enthusiastic about choosing new books for our school library. It will be great oi see them flying of the shelves as students’ fellow readers pick them up.”
