Our students in Years 9, 10 & 12 had the opportunity to visit a Volunteering Fair.

Local volunteering organisations visited the school – including; Support Staffordshire, The Stan Bowley Trust and The Hub at St Mary’s to discuss with students the importance of volunteering and possible careers that are available to them.

Students had the opportunity to collect information about local events they may wish to get involved in over the next few months and speak to the representatives about different career options within those companies.

There were a large number of students inspired by the work carried out by the organisations leading onto students expressing an interest in volunteering. They received organisations’ information from the event and were encouraged to make contact directly, with interest to pursuing a volunteering position in the future. This has given students the chance to see what is available to them and understand the application process.

Faye Banks, Careers & Aspirations Mentor, said: “This is a great event for students to get involved with volunteering organisations and opens up opportunities for future applications, whilst providing valuable time volunteering and gaining invaluable experience with transferable employability skills.”
