Our Year 9 Cricket Team suffered a narrow defeat in last over against Rawlett in an excellently played game of cricket.

Friary lost the toss and were put into bat. Friary scored 105/9 off their 20 overs with an excellent 50* (44) from captain Luan Painter.

Rawlett needed 106 to win, Friary started well with early wickets from Sean Whillis and Jonathon George. Some good bowling from Krish and Luan in the middle overs meant the game went down to the last over.

However, Rawlett reached their target with just 4 balls left.

Jamie Sleigh, PE teacher and team coach, said: “Luan Painter was ‘Player of the Match’ with 50 runs and 3 wickets but all of the team deserve praise. There are lots of cricket fixtures coming up over the next few weeks and I am sure they’ll be plenty of successes.”
