Outstanding from all the 10 students who went to King Edwards to play in our final rugby 7’s competition, captained superbly by Sean Whillis.

There was great rugby played throughout; all players should be very proud of themselves. Our Year 9 boys have been working towards this since Christmas at rugby club on Thursdays after school. They played excellently as a team throughout and came very close when losing 3-2 to eventual winners King Edwards, which is still a huge highlight along with good wins versus a strong Kingsmead team (1-0) and to come from 2 tries drown to beat The Hart (4-2).

There were tries from the tournament scored by Rhys Wynne (3), Cameron Ford (2), Joe Ward and Stanley Peckham.

There was also support from Year 10 GCSE PE students Alfie Joines and Max Hewkin who came along to support and guide our Year 9s to a very successful end of the rugby season.

Jamie Sleigh, PE Teacher and team coach, said: “We were delighted with the attitude of all players. It was great to see their hard work pay off and their genuine passion for rugby.”
