Our Year 8 basketball team took part in their first tournament at Cheslyn Hay school and went into battle with four rival schools.
Narrowly losing by one basket in their first game, the students didn’t let their confidence levels fall. They continued to play well as a team and scored some great shots. Our game against Chesyln Hay was the highlight winning 14-4.
The return of fixtures continues to be a thrilled for students and staff alike and the team’s representatives, Stan Puleo, Harry Owen, Jacob Townsend, Lucus Conway-Kendall and Layton Sheerin, were a credit to our school during the evening.
Jamie Sleigh, PE teacher and team coach, said: “Basketball club has seen over 30 students attending, all working on their skills in preparation for upcoming fixtures. They have shown a real passion for basketball. After half term it’s the turn of our Year 7 and Year 10 teams in their competitions. Once exams have finished (11th March) in the sports hall, then our Basketball Club will return on Thursday evenings.”
