Each year the Hospitality & Catering teachers sign up to a range of initiatives to give the pupils an experience of foods they may not have prepared, cooked, and enjoyed; for example, in 2019 we were lucky enough to successful apply for free game for schools. This year we had free mussels for school.
It was so successful that ‘The Food Teachers Centre FISH Hero programme’ have offered another opportunity for 200 schools to receive free salmon!
Once again we were lucky enough to be one of the 200 schools across the nation to be selected to receive these.
This week has seen the first prepare, cook and present challenges for our Y11 pupils in H&C.
They had to work as a team to produce one of the following dishes:
* Green Spaghetti with Alaska Salmon, Peas and Pesto
* Wild Alaska Salmon Breakfast Fish Cakes
* Alaska Salmon Egg Fried Rice
Angie Brough, Food teacher, said: “The sessions went really well and we are always delighted to see our students use new ingredients and experiment with new dishes. The students took the bait and reeled in some fantastic food.”
