Our PTFA team did an amazing job with the PTFA Raffle in collecting an amazing list of prizes ranging from X-Box Series 3, an Arthur Price cutlery set, a create of wine, £250 worth of kitchenware, and much more besides from local businesses and parents.
The raffle eventually raised £1,560 which will go to PTFA funds and will all be invested in the school. This is in top of this term’s fundraising which has come from ‘Chicago’ Show bars, Oktoberfest, Bags to School and the on-going weekly school lottery.
Looking ahead to next term, we have the lottery and Bags2School continuing, but events include the PTFA Quiz Night, a stand-up comedy night, as well as show bars for ‘Battle of the Bands’ and ‘Encore’.
Lottie, Hearn, Deputy Headteacher and PTFA Link, said: “We are keen to get new parents to join our PTFA – especially of children in Year 7-9 who have found it hard to join amidst the COVID restrictions. The school relies on this team of people to make a real difference to school life and with many hands making light work, you would be a real support. The chance too to get involved in the life of the school, build close relationships with staff, understand how school operates and prioritises it’s work, and to make great friends, is well worth being a part of.”
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “I am something of a stuck record when I talk to parents about school provision when I say that school funding levels were raised in the last budget to 2010 levels. If we think how much prices have risen in terms of gas, electricity, daily life, etc, then these are the restrictions schools face in all they do. In an ideal world schools would not rely on parent donations, but the world is not ideal. It is the extras in school that disappear – whether that be homework clubs, school shows, sports teams or Saturday schools – without parents contributing to school life. This is why we as teachers donate and why we are so grateful to parents who step up to do their bit too.”
If you cannot commit the time to join out PTFA then you can sign up to the PTFA school lottery for £1 per week to win weekly school prizes and a weekly entry into a £25,000 national draw here.
