The House Debating Competition sees seven debates through the school year – one for each Year group – and House teams compete to tot up the points that win the House Debating Cup.

There are still four debates to go that cover the following:

Year 10 – Internet Safety Week – All internet usage should be monitored by the government…

Year 9 – National Careers Week – Inequality in the workplace is a thing of the past…

Year 8 – Europe Day – Brexit has been a total success…

Year 7 – Windrush Day – Racism is not a problem in modern Britain…

Elsewhere, the school will be entering the annual debating competition supported by Arthur Price and Michael Fabricant MP – both great supporters of the school – later in the Spring Term

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “We believe that the cut-and-thrust of reasoned debate is a fantastic skill to develop and the added incentive of the House prize only beefs up the rivalry. We deliberately pick contemporary and controversial debates and this year is very much about the societal themes of equality and discrimination so that our students explore the arguments and soundings around the most topical of issues.”
