Congratulations to the Year 11 students who have taken part in our debating competition over the last few days. The topic, ‘The Black Lives Matter Movement has run its course’ was a very topical subject and the students impressed the judges with the amount of research they had undertaken.
The external judges Nina Worrall (School Governor) and Jane Mackenzie (Chair of Governors) praised the independent research and debating skills shown by the students.
Darwin won overall with a team that included Mary Hughes, Isaac Brodie, Devan Klair and Maisie Lowe.
Tom Purkis and Amy Findlay were chosen as the ‘Most Valuable Debaters.’
Carrie Cain, Deputy Headteacher, said: “Well done to all the students who took part in the debates. The amount of research undertaken was very impressive and the debating skills shown by the students made it a much harder job to choose the winning team.”
