Over the last few weeks, students in Years 7 to 9 have been working hard to prepare for our House Independent Learning Competition. The focus was Harriet Tubman and each tutor group entered a team that had to research this important historical figure in their own time in preparation for the competition. Each team put their knowledge to the test this morning by answering some tricky questions about what they had learnt. They also earnt their houses some valuable points.

First place was awarded to Sasha Chambers and Sophie Rogers who did extremely well, getting almost all of the questions correct.

The next competition will see the students researching Martin Luther King and take place in January.

Helena Cresswell, Librarian, said: “The students worked well together answering some tricky questions on the life of Harriet Tubman. Several students were seen in the library researching in the weeks leading up to the competition. The students did fantastically well and should be very proud of themselves.”
