A sure sign that COVID was at least partly on the wane was the re-appearance on the PTFA calendar of our annual Oktoberfest bash.
The event was well attended and saw live oompah music, beers, bratwurst, gin bars and more besides and the mixed crowed of parents, staff and just people looking to celebrate the iconic German event had a great time.
The purpose of the Oktoberfest was to raise PTFA funds for investment in the school and though the final figure looks to be well into 4-figures. In times of tight funding the PTFA allows the school to do the extra things that otherwise would be unachievable; whether it be extra computers, an extra minibus, extra books for the library, and so on.
Lottie Hearn, Assistant Headteacher and PTFA Link, said: “A huge thank you to our PTFA team for all the hard work that went into making such an amazing event. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and enthusiastic team and it was good to be together again an spending time with people we’ve missed.”
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “Any success we achieve as a school is only maintained with the goodwill and support of our parent body – whether that be supporting us with funding via PTFA events or simply buying into what we as a school are trying to do. We would welcome all parents to get involved and make a difference and if you would like to get involved then email office@friary.greywoodmst.co.uk.”
