The Friary staff cricket team beat King Edward’s staff in a great game to win back the trophy after 6 years without it.
Friary batted first and set the opposition 109 to win. Well batted Mr Foster (34) and Mr Britton (25) who got us off to a great start. Late runs added by Mr Sleigh, Mr Vandenheuvel and Mr Rivers-Boyce.
A 33 run victory was secured with wickets from Mr Sleigh (4/0, including a hat trick), Mr Simpson (3/6), Mr Millward (1/7) and Mr Vandenheuvel (1/12).
Excellent fielding display from the staff to ensure King Edwards couldn’t get to the 109 total. Huge shoutouts to Miss Stone, Miss Wright, Mr Perry, Mr Rivers-Boyce and behind the stumps Mr Drury who were exceptional when fielding to keep the score down.
Ian Rose, Deputy Headteacher, said: “Our search for this trophy has been akin to the pursuit of the Holy Grail so we are delighted to get there. It was a great way to end the staff social year and huge thanks to King Edwards for the game.”
