It is at this time of year when we can celebrate all the massive successes of our students throughout the year and this year has been extra special as last year’s event was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID.
The annual rewards day took place on Friday 9 July celebrating the amazing achievements of so many of our students.
The winning House this year was Johnson (again!) and so the majority of those taking part were Johnson students. The top students from Johnson with the most House points in each year group had the opportunity to participate in the Knockout Challenge, along with the top 15 in each of the other Houses.
This was an ‘It’s a Knockout’ themed obstacle course in which teams of students competed against each other over dry and wet inflatables. We had around 360 students in total take part throughout the day including most of the Year 12 sixth form students. After the students all went home, 21 members of staff took part in three teams, with the Humanities team led by Mrs Young emerging victorious.
Luke Baker, Assistant Headteacher, said “This year’s Rewards Day was a fantastic effort from students and staff. It was great to see so many of our students being able to enjoy themselves and get a justified reward following such a difficult 18 months where they have risen to the challenge of remote learning, readjusting to the impact of COVID and the ‘new normal’ of school life. The weather and the students were fantastic. Great fun was had by all.”
