Our Year 8 mathematicians have been taking par tin the national Junior Maths Challenge Competition and have achieved a string of successes.
They have been awarded a range of tiered certificates:
Gold – Oliver Lunn, Joshua Douglas-Boisson & Scott White
Silver – Matthew Allen, James Lunn, William Turnock & Timothy Huskisson
Bronze – Molly Stainforth & Josh Brown.
All of the students took part in extra Teams lessons over lockdown and did lots of past competition papers via Dr Frost online too.
All of the prize-winning students have been awarded 50 House Points and the Gold Winners march on into the next round of the competition. More details on the scheme can be seen here.
Grant Portlock, Maths teacher and team leader, said: “The Maths Challenge is, by design, very difficult and so managing to get any certificate is a big achievement. Having run the scheme at previous schools, I have only ever seen one child get through to the next round, so this team have done extraordinarily well.”
