One of our key PHSE responsibilities is to deliver sex education and as per our whole-school approach we tie our delivery into our Focus Weeks – in this case National Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) Week.

The sessions are largely directed at Year 9 through a series of drop-downs sessions covering Sexually Transmitted Infections, Contraception, Assessing Readiness for Sex and Social Media & Sexual Relationships.

Elsewhere, building on previous work, we are addressing the issues of sexual harassment and assault with Year 8 and Year 10 students.

Ian Rose, Deputy Headteacher, said: “Our role as an educator is to prepare our students for life in today’s society and an awareness of personal safety, respect for others and topical issues are part of that. The sessions are packed full of information, are well targeted and are age appropriate so we know students will benefit a great deal from them.”
