The Spirit of Normandy Trust is running a creative competition for children across the country as part of their work to commemorate the 8 May 2021 which sees the 76th anniversary of Victory in Europe and the end of World War Two.

The competition asks for entrants to design a poster which illustrates and captures everything that VE Day is about. There are three categories of entry – KS2 (Primary), KS3 & KS4 (Secondary), and SEND – and the winner of each entry receives a £100 prize. The winners will be determined by judges made up of Normandy veterans.

The deadline for the entries is 1 May 2021 and more information is available at: https://spiritofnormandy.org.uk/70-2/

Furthermore, the publicity flyer for the competition can be seen here.

Liam Rivers-Boyce, Head of History, said: “We are always keen to encourage our historians to engage with this national competition and this event carries the weight of the support of Normandy veterans whose service well deserves this commemorative work. We have plenty of talent amongst our historians and I know they have a great opportunity to put in the time during lockdown to scoop this award.”
