The third Monday of January has been awarded the gloomy title of ‘Blue Monday’ due to combinations of post-Christmas blues and cold dark nights.
Our Focus Week addresses this theme and the wider issue of mental health and has become even more pertinent with the advent of the last lockdown which runs at least through this half-term.
We are setting range of activities via Show My Homework, our website and social media platforms in order to support children and families through this period of home learning and to try and keep everyone ticking over until normality eventually returns.
Our Surviving Lockdown PowerPoint – which is available here – provides ‘Top Tips’ in relation to Anxiety. Sleep, Routine, Home Learning, Diet, Exercise, Personal Space, Social interaction, Safety and Emotions.
Matt Allman, Headteacher said: “There is no doubt that we are all lockdown weary and the latest wave of restrictions – though vital – are tough to deal with. Our support programme for our students sits alongside our wider learning package and the activities are designed to respond to the mental health side of development. Even so, these resources would actually support anyone struggling in the present climate.”
