We are once again extremely proud to have been awarded the South West Grid for Learning’s Online Safety Award, which puts us in the top tier nationally for online safety.

We also retain our ‘Beacon School’ status, whereby we act as a source of information, guidance and encouragement for other schools across the country who wish to be outstanding in their approach to online safety.

To achieve the award, we are required to meet the prescribed standards across 21 different aspects of the rigorous assessment criteria, including our curriculum, pastoral and technical approaches to digital world. We are very proud to have achieved this certification once again and to add to our comprehensive safeguarding provision.

Steve Neale, the Friary’s Online Safety Coordinator and Deputy Safeguarding Lead, said: “It has been a really exciting opportunity to once again challenge ourselves to meet the high standards of the Online Safety Award. The Friary works very hard indeed to be at the forefront of the ever-changing online world, and to educate and support our young people as they find their way through their digital lives. Whether we like it or not, the world relies on the internet and it’s therefore vitally important that we lead the way in getting the most out of it in the safest way we can.”
