Our Focus Week included a visit from Jo Billington from the Lichfield Pathway Project as part of our focus on the White Ribbon charity. White Ribbon UK is the leading charity seeking to end domestic violence.
Although both men and women can both suffer from domestic violence, White Ribbon UK is intent on ending male violence against women. The charity engages with men and boys to make a stand against violence and ensure that nobody commits, excuses or remains silent about violence against women.
Our Art and Performing Arts departments have joined together in a project to raise awareness of the facts associated with domestic violence and the all the charities offering support. Our Sixth Form in particular have been instrumental in the production of a range of informational posters. We have also been selling white ribbons with all donations going directly to the Pathway Project.
Ian Rose, Deputy Headteacher, said: “We are deeply grateful to Jo Billington for joining us this week and presenting so well about this very important and emotive issue to our young people who, as always, have received our visitor with impressive maturity and attentiveness. Once again they have been a credit to the school.”
