The CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals are the UK’s oldest and best-loved children’s book awards, recognising outstanding reading experiences created through writing and illustration in books for children and young people.

The CILIP Carnegie Medal is awarded by children’s librarians for an outstanding book written in English for children and young people.

Our school library is displaying all books shortlisted for the 2020 Carnegie Medal to encourage students to put their head into a good book.

Mark Drury, Assistant Headteacher, said: “There is a clear link between reading and academic success – those children who read regularly are simply more likely to do better in exams. More than that, books can open your eyes to so many new things, and this latest shortlist has some cracking reads.”
