This year the NHS have extended the flu vaccination to include Year 7 children, not just primary school children. The School Age Immunisation Team will be in school on Friday the 2/10/20 to provide the opportunity for all our year 7 pupils to be vaccinated against the annual flu virus free of charge.
Naturally, the vaccine does not protect a child against COVID, but with flu circulating at the same time it would eliminate one risk that is unpredictable and dangerous to many people each year.
This year The School Age Immunisation Team is moving to Electronic consents for the Flu vaccination programme. The use of E consent is quicker and easier to use, and can be completed on any electronic device. All of our year 7 pupils will be offered this opportunity and you must complete the E Consent form to either give your consent or not.
This vaccination is free and is a quick and simple spray up the nose. Even if your child had it last year, it is recommended to have the flu vaccine again this year. If your child has a long-term medical condition they can also access this vaccine at your GP surgery.
- Click on this link https://forms.mpft.nhs.uk/ to complete the consent form.
- You will need this code JBFFRIARY which identifies your child’s school
- Please complete the e-consent form by 1st October 2020

The vaccine programme does not go any higher in the school although you can approach your GP about getting a shot – whether you are a student or parent – and there are private companies that will offer it including Boots, Lloyds, etc.
