The PE department are hosting Virtual Sports Day on Monday 6th – Friday 10th July for students and staff to take part in at home. We think it would be a great way to get the whole school community back together whilst having fun and staying active.

During this lockdown period, we are all aware of how important it is to look after our physical and mental well-being and what better way to do that than take part in an inter-House, whole school event. Being in competition with other Houses and knowing others from your school community are also taking part, will hopefully give us all that sense of school life that we may be missing at home – being part of The Friary School community.

Those that want to be involved, will complete 10 challenges over the week and will have until Friday 10 July to email their scores to their PE teacher with attached photo or video evidence if possible. All challenges are quick, easy and require little or no equipment so everyone will be able to take part. Individuals will be completing for their own house and scores will be revealed at the end of the week.

The events include:
CHALLENGE 1: Standing Long Jump
CHALLENGE 2: Standing Shot Put
CHALLENGE 3: 1 Minute Keepy Uppies
CHALLENGE 4: Stork Stand Balance
CHALLENGE 5: 1 Minute Sit Up’s
CHALLENGE 6: Speed Bounce
CHALLENGE 7: 4m Ball Throw
CHALLENGE 8: Plank Challenge
CHALLENGE 9: Tennis Ball Bounce
CHALLENGE 10: Burpees

Virtual Sports Day

All information will be emailed to students on Monday 6 July. Students need to download the Power Point presentation, read it carefully and watch the videos for guidance.

Please make sure you read the school website and follow the schools Twitter and Instagram accounts (@Friaryschool) to watch the event taking place and keep track of the scores. We will also upload some of our pupil’s video throughout the week, to show off our excellent talent.

If you have any questions, please email Miss Wright at any time – hwright@friaryschool.co.uk

Ian Rose, Deputy Headteacher, said: “Sports Day is a fantastic day on the school calendar and this virtual experience will mean the Houses can still battle it out for the title.”
