Isabel Ainsworth (Y9) has been awarded first prize in the prestigious Design Competition run by University College School.
The competition demanded the invention of a product to improve the lives of people living through the coronavirus pandemic. It demanded preliminary drawings, rationales and a final design.
Isabel‘s design was based around the theme of home office equipment – ideal for the present home learning situation – and was superbly set out, well explained and beautifully presented. She won a well-deserved £50 in Amazon Vouchers and will have her design manufactured.
Henry Franks, competition organiser, said: “We have finished going through the hundreds of design entries we had for the ‘Spring Break Design Challenge’ and I have been so impressed with the talent. Innovation that improves the quality of people’s lives is essential and I am so excited for your future inventions as you will all get better the more you practice being creative.”
Matt Allman, Headteacher, added: “Isabel is a fantastic student who we are very proud of. We are thrilled she has done so superbly in this national competition and the creativity and commitment we see here is only what she shows each and every day.”
