There was an excellent turn-out at school to watch Year 11’s victory against King Edwards 1-0

A cagey first-half saw the score 0-0 at half-time though there was some great play from both teams.

Second-half saw the Friary boys have the better of the match – with some good play from Ed Patstone and Owen Clark seeing the best of the chances.

With 8 minutes to go, Friary kept pushing and up stepped Y10 Nyle Payne off the bench to slot home from close range and send Friary through to the next round.

‘Man of the Match’ was awarded to Dan Bond for an outstanding performance in goal pulling off some great saves in crucial parts of the game.

Jamie Sleigh, PE Teacher and team coach, said: “We were hugely impressed with the boys’ performance both attacking-wise and defensively. Their workrate and desire to win saw them through to the win.”
