On Friday 6th March 2020, students in Years 10 to 13 had the opportunity to visit a Student Volunteering / Careers Fair.
Twenty-four organisations visited the school – including the COOP, Morrisons, Curborough Community Centre and the Fun Club – to discuss with students the importance of volunteering and possible careers that are available to them.
Students had the opportunity to collect information about local events they may wish to get involved in over the next few months and chat to the representatives about different career options within those companies. Equally, the event provided them with valuable experiences, insights and inspiration to build their confidence as well as their CVs.
A representative from the Fun Club said: “Your young people were very interested in volunteering and were confident in seeking information.” Elsewhere, Anna Kluck from the Curborough Community Association, praised the organisation of the event and said that staff and pupils were “very welcoming”.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “We are always thrilled when the community comes together to support our students and the school in their education and there is no doubt this event has added to every students’ readiness for work. Huge thanks to everyone who attended and roll on next year.”
