TikTok is a video-sharing social networking service owned by ByteDance, a Beijing-based company. It is used to create short lip-sync, comedy, and talent videos.

It is very popular with teenagers and it certainly one we know is used by students at The Friary.

However, the lack of parent controls has been an issue in the past, though Tik Tok have recently given parents the opportunity to keep their child safe.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “We keep an eye on our children when they are out and about, we pick them up from events, and don’t let them hang out wherever till whenever. However, often children can be let loose online with no parameters and this brings inevitable problems. If your child uses Tik Tok then we would recommend you check out the option available to you and use this as an opportunity to talk about online safety.”
