Last year we introduced a parent meeting to talk through the GCSE French exams, especially the speaking exams.

The GCSE results that followed were stunning so having clearly had the benefit of parental impact last year, we were not going to miss the trick this year.

The session was very well attended and talked through the journey ahead. The preparation for the speaking exam, the links to the writing exam, and the strategies to maximise the grades.

The session also included presentation from GCSE French students from last year who followed the advice and thrived – just like our current Year 11s can.

Sophie Grigg, Head of MFL, said: “We are very grateful that the evening was so well attended. There is no doubt that children who have their parents in the loop for the exam have the extra support to help them over their line.”
