The senior boys were back in action after a long break from hockey and what a performance they put on against rivals Denstone College.

In the first half, Friary pressed from the start causing havoc in the D for the opposition who were unable to see off two early shots put in the back of the goal by the home team.

Before the half-time whistle, the score could have been much higher but Captain Dan Bond was unable to stay on his feet and looked like ‘Bambi on Ice’ at times, gaining some nasty astro burns, but through sheer determination, fighting to keep possession of the ball.

Denstone came back fighting in the second half with some penetrating runs through the centre midfield but just could get past the Friary defence for a shot on goal.

Head coach, Ms Fallows, said: “What a performance and win for the boys! The amount of talent we had on the pitch this evening was amazing and it was a real pleasure to watch such an entertaining match with a good bunch of lads. Well done to Charlie Allarton, Dan Bond, Harry O’Donnell and Ryan Jones who made it on the score sheet.”
