The BBC website have flagged up a report by the Internet Watch Foundation that reveals that girls aged between 11-13 are increasingly being tricked and coerced into performing sexually over their own webcams.
The report uncovered that 80% of the sexual selfies it found in its relentless trawl for images of child sexual abuse were of children this age. Indeed, of 37,00 self-generated images of children found on the internet last year, 30,000 were of this age range.
Luke Baker, Assistant Headteacher, said: “Any parent of a daughter who has access to online activity should not think this is an issue that happens to someone else or that it does not happen in our community. This is a real danger and it is vital e-safety remains an on-going dialogue in every home, whatever the age or gender of the child.”
