This Christmas our school has received Rotary Shoe Boxes to send to Eastern European families in need.
Each form has filled a box to be sent off to countries including Ukraine, Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania, for parents and children to receive in time for Christmas.
The boxes are a great opportunity to let someone that is struggling know that people care and that there is help for them. It gives students the chance to give families a Christmas that they have previously only dreamed of.
Katie Hayward, Year 13 Senior Student and the outgoing Chair of The Friary Interact Club, said: ‘I am so proud of the work we do as a group in school. We feel that by raising money for local and international charities, we are able to support our local community and make a difference to the lives of other young people across the world.’
The Friary Interact club have also started to plan for some other exciting events later in the year. These include: Cars in the Park, the Cathedral to Castle Run and the annual Summer Sizzler.
