Our Year 7 boys travelled to The Hart School which was the last game of the league campaign, a great opportunity for the boys to continue their unbeaten run. A great chance too for another two players to make their Friary team first appearance.

First half The Friary started the stronger having chances through Riley Preece-Jones and Evan Wynne. However, The Hart finished the half strong and took a 1-0 lead at half time.

The boys continued to create chances in the second half but were unable to get a goal to their tally of 20 goals in 3 games. Equally, Billy Barlow in goal, produced 3 excellent second half saves too.

As the gamed ebbed and flowed, The Hart broke away and a second with minutes remaining. Full time result- 2-0 defeat.

Nevertheless, the earlier victories in what turned out to be a competitive league, were enough for The Friary to take the League Title! The victory came from the convincing early wins which saw 20 goals scored in the first three games.

Jamie Sleigh, PE teacher and team coach, said: “Everyone who made the team can be proud and it was fantastic to see so many parents turn out too. It will be great to see the boys playing in the cup in the Spring Term.”
