Friary Sixth Form students have signed up to give up some of their Enrichment time to undertake reading with Year 7 children.

All Sixth Formers have been trained in how to undertake the support and the younger students certainly respond well to such a positive role models for them as they look to work their way through secondary school.

Mark Drury, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We have broadened this scheme out and know it will make a real difference; not just in terms of reading, but in terms of setting an example and a tone for academic success at our school. The best role models for our younger children are those who have recently undertaken the journey they are facing and have successfully negotiated the many hurdles that crop up. We know our Sixth Formers are going to be wonderful examples and will make a huge difference.”
