This weekend saw Katie Edwards (Y12) take part in the DHL/Entrust Stafford Flute and Clarinet Festival that was held in Saint Mary in Stafford as part of the Stafford Festival of Music. She was part of a clarinet duet playing Moderato by Lewin.
Her performance attracted great praise but had only reflected the news that came through from the highly competitive ‘Awards for Young Muscians’ scheme the previous week which saw her awarded a £500 bursary.
This award will go towards continuing consultation lessons with Sally Harrop of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the cost of exam fees for her Clarinet ARSM Diploma which she will undertake in the summer.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “Since Katie joined us we have been incredibly impressed not only with her talent, but also her commitment to her musicianship which has gone a long way to making her the wonderful performer she is. The award is very much a testimony to her hard work, and we know that it will only be invested in her taking her skills even further.”
