We have received the following update from John Mitcheson, Commercial Director for Midland Classic, who run some of the services for our students who travel by public bus to school:

Midland Classic bus fares are changing from 29th April. Fares will generally rise by 10p. This does not affect the “Your Staffordshire” fare of £1.30 which is still available until the County stops that in August.

New prices of multi-journey tickets are as follows:
Classic Day+ ticket (entire network) £5.50 adult / £3.60 child
Classic week £16.50 adult, child is unchanged at £12
Classic 4 week £55 adult, child is unchanged at £40

There are also minor timetable changes taking effect from the same date, including more journeys on route X12 between Lichfield and Burton and the re-timing of departures from Lichfield on route 812 during the main part of the daytime. This does not affect the departures which serve Friary School.

Full details and timetables will be on our website – http://www.midlandclassic.com/ – from Monday 15th April.

The decision by Staffordshire County Council to remove the ‘Your Staffordshire’ Card will impact on bus fare costs but with advance planning a large proportion of any extra costs can be mitigated against: https://www.friaryschool.co.uk/2018/11/12/end-of-your-staffordshire-card-will-increase-transport-costs/

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “It is vital that parents think ahead when it comes to bus fare changes as by knowing the options available it is possible to avoid being hit by price rises. We will continue to keep families up-to-date as and when we receive information.”
