The Year 8 boys produced a dominant display v Cannock Chase in the first round of the Cannock & District Cup.

In tough conditions, Friary made all the early running and forced Cannock Chase to defend deep.

Pressure told and the Friary broke the deadlock after 10 minutes with a goal from Thomas Larkin – his pace proving a real threat to the oppositions defence throughout the game.  From that moment on, the Friary played some excellent football and passed their way up the pitch creating plenty of chances running out a 3-0 lead by half time.

In the second half, the boys were challenged to adopt a different formation so they could work on improving different aspects of their game and get used to playing in different positions. This didn’t stop the onslaught though.

The Friary remained a potent attacking force throughout the second half and scored another 4 to win 7-0 and a special mention must go to Jaime Luciano scoring with a sublime 30 yard strike.

Sam Foster, Head of PE and team coach, said: “The boys were superb throughout and we are looking forward to the next round.”
