Over a hundred Friary students received a free ice cream for their hard work and achievement during the last half-term.
Most of the students were from Johnson House, who led the way in House Points during the run up to Christmas.
Oliver Tromans, in 8J1, said “It’s the most delicious reward you could get.” Josh Litherland, also in Year 8, added: “It makes me proud and honoured to be in Johnson House.” This sentiment was echoed by his classmate Katie Lynn, who said: “I’m so happy to be receiving the award. Johnson House really deserved this.”
There is intense competition between the Houses to be in pole position in time for the end of year Rewards Day. However, for now, the students were happy to be rewarded for their recent efforts.
“I’m incredibly proud of the achievements of pupils in our House,” said Mrs Male, Head of Johnson House. “It was wonderful to see them enjoying their well-earned treat.”
Whilst around two-thirds of the rewards, supplied by Cannock Dairies, were reserved for students with the most House Points in Johnson House, students with the most House Points in other Houses were also recognised. This includes those in the Sixth Form. “These ice cream rewards make me feel valued and appreciated,” said Molly Draper, a Year 13 student in Garrick House.
