We always enjoy working with Christchurch children and the recent Art masterclass provide no exception – with the group showing some fantastic talent that only suggests they will shine in Art and Design classes when they reach secondary school.

Sixty students from Christchurch visited our Art Department and completed a charcoal masterclass with Mr Havill and Mrs Brickett.

They students explored the work of the artist Jim Dine and moved on to create work very much in his artistic style.

The work involved the use of both artistic equipment and design tech tools so was a very different and specialist experience and one that allowed them to use their imagination and flair to come up with some wonderful pieces.

Lottie Hearn, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We are fortunate to gain some excellent Year 7s each year from Christchurch so this was a great chance for many of them to come up to our school, have a look around, experience some lessons and to have some fun. It was great to have them here and to see the superb pieces of work they produced.”
