The Friary School’s entry into Lichfield Cathedral’s Christmas Tree Festival celebrates the festive period whilst also giving a nod to Remembrance by recognising how 100 years ago this Christmas it would be the first peaceful one since the war started.

The decorations include poppies remembering the soldiers and animals which died serving our city in the First World War, name tags for each of the Lichfield soldiers who passed away, and all of the adornments were hand-made out of recycled paper.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “We enjoy working with Lichfield Cathedral and the annual tree festival is a wonderful way to encourage our students to reflect on Christmas and to contribute to a project which our whole local community can enjoy. We would encourage everyone to drop into the cathedral and take in all of the imaginative ideas played out in the tree decorations.”
