The U13 girls took on Abbotsholme in a friendly 7-aside match fielding two teams due to such high interest in girl’s hockey at the moment.

The A team went 1-0 down at half time but after a motivational half-time team talk from the captain, they went on to score 5 goals without reply in the second half to win 5-1. The goals came from Emily Beddow (2) and Isobel Allman (3).

It was a similar picture with the B team who also went 1-0 down but with sheer determination and overturned the deficit through goals from Elena Hill and Ffion Wynne – eventually winning 2-1.

The results were particularly pleasing for Chloe Butler and Felicity Stephenson who made their debuts in the upper year group squad.

Kim Fallows, team coach, said: “The girls played fantastically well against some talented Abbotsholme players and the team-work and ‘never-say-die’ attitude really stood out.”
