Staffordshire County Council are phasing out the ‘Your Staffordshire’ Card due to financial pressures
The card, which allows subsidised bus travel for young people, will be honoured up till August 31 2019 but not afterwards.
The County Council have suggested people contact their bus companies to see what alternatives are available, and if members of the public wish to comment please email mailto:yourstaffordshirecard@staffordshire.gov.uk by 30 November 2018.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “As a school with hundreds of students who travel on buses to get to school, we are very disappointed to see the scrapping of the ‘Your Staffordshire’ Card. The scheme supports not only school journeys, but also those to local clubs and teams, so the impact will be significant for many children. We have already set up extended opening hours, both in the morning and after-school, so we hope this can support working families who need to move to pick-ups. Cuts to provision does seem to be on a never-ending roll at the moment.”
