Each year, Lichfield Cathedral celebrates the festive season by creating a hanging installation in the ceiling of the nave. In recent years we have seen angels of love and stars of wonder.
This year they will be flying 20,000 doves of peace created by over seventy schools from across the district. Each dove will have been assembled by a child who will decorate each one and personalise it with a message of peace or a prayer. It really is a celebration of a community coming together for the greater good.
Lottie Hearn, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We are so proud to be able to contribute to this huge community project and support our wonderful cathedral. It will be fantastic to see the voices of the next generation being gathered together in support of a brighter future for our world.”
You will be able to see the installation of doves from the end of November until the beginning of January.
Look out for The Friary Schools Christmas Carol Concert at Lichfield Cathedral on Thursday 6th December.
