Our annual Year 7 Dedication Service took place this week with the whole year group, accompanied by tutors, staff and families, dropped into Lichfield Cathedral to formally celebrate their step up to secondary school.
The service was led by the Reverend Canon Andrew Stead and included hymns, prayers, readings and an address by the Headteacher.
The ‘Shout It Out’ Choir, containing many Year 7 students, performed ‘Read All About It’ by Emile Sande, whilst the school jazz band performed ‘The Girl from Ipanema’.
There were also speeches by the Head Boy and Head Girl, James O’Donnell and Sophie Ellett, who talked through their journey into Year 13, whilst Year 7s Poppy Grimshaw and Max Hewkin (crutches and all) recounted what it was like to be a the beginning of that 7 year journey.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “It was a wonderful event and we were thrilled to see so many more parents, grandparents and wider families dropping in to support the service. We are always thrilled when our new Year 7 cohort arrive and the opportunity for them to experience a service dedicated to them at our wonderful city cathedral is too good to miss.”
