This week we welcomed the Staffordshire County Council Road Safety Unit in to the Sixth Form to talk to our students about driving safely.

Year 12 students were shown the ‘COW’ film which re-enacts a true story focusing on educating students about the importance of driving safely. This included topics like the use of seat belts, the impact of peer pressure on driving and the use of mobile phones in cars.

The Year 13 students focused on the film ‘Driving with Grace’ which included issues relating to drug driving, speeding and drink driving. The film included real-life interviews and our Sixth Formers were very moved by it.

Vicky Fordham, Sixth Form Mentor said’ All too often your hear of the tragedies involving young people driving and the peer pressure they succumb to. It is vital that our students have a good awareness of the issues that surround safer driving and we are grateful to Kevin Wilcox from the Staffordshire Road Safety Unit for coming in to school and dealing with this subject in such a sensitive manner.’
