Each year sees our four Houses take centre stage for a week to celebrate their House and to raise funds for their chosen local charity – last week was the chance for Seward House and Midland Air Ambulance to shine.

The Seward House Week closed in style this Friday lunchtime when 350 students and staff enjoyed a sold out Lip Sync battle. There was standing room only as “Tina Turner,” “Michael Jackson,” “Ed Sheeran,” “Rick Astley,” LMFAO,” “Beenie Man” amongst others took to the stage. The event was a raucous and fitting end to a week of wonderful fundraising.

All week students in 7S1 and 7S2 sold Seward stationery to excited customers and House Pom Poms were designed and sold by students in 8S1 and 8S2 – they were a huge hit with green coloured Seward Pom Poms outselling Garrick, Johnson and Darwin by 2-1. Furthermore, students across the year groups have baked and sold cakes at charity bake sales, so the signs are looking good for Seward for the upcoming “Friary Bake Off.”

Elsewhere, Seward Slime quickly sold out and Rocket Lollies proved just as popular in the autumnal air as they did back in late spring. Also, sponsored silences proved a real winner for parents of year 7 pupils who donated generously and the Seward Salon, managed by students from 11S2, provided some much needed pampering to some 1 month into the new term.

The Seward House Council also used their House Week this year to promote the achievements of our figure head, Anna Seward. We would like her better represented in Lichfield and think that her poetry is deserving of a place on the English Curriculum.

Head of Seward House, Mr Havill said, “Once again I am so proud of our students. They consistently give up their time, in huge numbers, to support The Midlands Air Ambulance. Due to our work with the charity our students have real empathy and work hard to raise funds for a very worthy cause.”
