The GCSE results signalled that the school remains very much on the right track and there were countless happy faces as a string of excellent grades. They very much replicated the superb Sixth Form results last week.

This success was all the more thrilling amidst the national challenges of 9-1 and re-jigged grade boundaries, as well curriculum and course changes within the school.

Early indications are that the school’s all-important progress score is positive and headline measurements are up on last year though final outcomes will only be confirmed as the national picture become clearer.

There were certainly plenty of high-flying academic performers across the school with a glut of top-rated 9s and high-end passes across each subject area:

* Isobella Action = 11 x GCSEs (incl. 7 x 9s, 3 x 8s, 1 x Dist*)                           * Lucy Allen = 11 x GCSEs (incl. 1 x 9, 9 x 8s, 1 x Dist*)

Elsewhere, there were plenty of success stories where students overcame their own personal challenges to grab the grades they were after and, though these did not always reap the 9s and 8s, they were equal successes to the headline results. Certainly, for a school that prides itself on doing the very best we can for every student, these left us just as delighted.

Oli Forster, Assistant Headteacher and KS4 Results Lead, said: “These results are testimony to the after-school boosters, the Saturday Schools, the Holiday Schools, and the hard work which has been put in over the last 2-3 years. It was a thrill to share the success with the students this morning.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, added: “We always look through our results to identify the key priorities for us to work on and it was fantastic to see so many of the changes we have put in place reap their rewards. Moving forward, we look again, we go again, and we drive for even more next year.”
